Project Examples

This page contains examples of previous projects completed at the medialogy studies. The projects are sorted by semesters, the contents of which, are described in detail at the studyplan page. Every project has a short description, and it is possible to see movies or even try some of the projects. The projects are examples of what previous students have chosen to examine. It is important to emphasise that the semesters are not limited to the projects described on this page, these are just meant to provide insight in what is possible at the medialogy studies.

1. semester - Visualize the unknown
Plakater.jpg

Eye catching in advertising
This project was a study in design of posters, for the students at the Copenhagen University College of Engineering. The students designed two posters as a result of their study of visual design. Both posters were then posted at the school, and their design evaluated by measuring how many hits the two different webpages registered. "NO ENGINEERING" won.

Inside the computer

This project examined how the content and the function of a computer can be told through an interactive story. The story follows the character Nullermand inside the computer, where he teaches the user about the computer, using metaphors. For example the processor is represented by a math professor.

2. semester - Designing from both sides of the screen

Pas på skallen

Pas på skallen
In this game, two chickens duel against each other. The game experiments with using sound as input to the game, and therefore the game requires a microphone to be played. If the game is executed, the game will ask for permission to use any microphone available.

stress.jpg

Stress i hverdagen
This game is a infotainment game, which visualizes everyday tasks and the stress which they can provide. In the game the player plays a mom, who has to perform the tasks - the longer time it takes before the task is begun, the less points will be awarded upon completion.

3. semester - Human senses – Digital Perception

MOVEit

MOVEit
This group used their third semester to examine how an intuitive game using an innovative interface could be designed. Their end result was a game, which is controlled by markes on the hands og legs of the players. These markers are tracked and translated to inputs in the virtual space. To move and score points in the virtual space the players have to move in the physical space. The game was tested on attendees at Multimediamania 2008. The test was recorded, and a compilation of the video can be seen below.

Percepfiction

Percepfiction
This project examined if it was possible to cheat the brain to feel the touch of a virtual spider. It was examined using an installation, in which spiders crawled randomly around in a little hole. If someone approached the hole and stuck their hand down there, the spiders would begin crawling onto the hand. The group produced a presentational movie, which can be seen beneath.

4. semester - Interaction Design

Der er i øjeblikket ingen eksempler på 4. semester projekter

5. semester - Animated Environments and Visual Effects

Camera Emotions

Camera Emotions
This project aimed to determine how a movie's meaning can be controlled with camera angles. A story was animated in 3d, an rendered with different angles. This way the actions in the movies stayed the same, while the angles differed. After the project was completed, the group compilated a version of the movie, using the different camera angles. The compiled version can be viewed below.

AntBot

Antbot
This project examined how realistic animated 3d objects could be inserted into handheld footage. The product which was produced to examine this, is a movie of a real table, with two virtual robots moving around. The entire movie can be downloaded here (41 mb) and below a teaser for the project can be seen.
